Deliver Dividends Of Democracy To Edo People – Sanwo-Olu To Okpebholo

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stated on Tuesday that he stands with the Nigerian workers over their demand for a wage increase, News About Nigeria reports.

Addressing workers in the state during the May Day celebration, held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos Island, the governor noted that one of his administration’s primary assignments is the welfare of workers.

Sanwo-Olu also commended the workers for their commitment to building the state and the nation at large through their various spheres of influence, despite the current economic hardship plaguing the country.

He said, “There is no gainsaying that this year’s Workers Day is being celebrated amidst economic challenges. The economic downturn has brought about disruptions that have affected lives and livelihoods. Yet, in the face of these challenging trials, you have exhibited remarkable resilience, adaptability, and courage. You have been the backbone of our response efforts, ensuring that essential services remain uninterrupted and that our state stands strong.”

The governor, therefore, pledged his administration’s commitment to ensuring that workers do not labour in vain, adding that, as they have always done through various interventions for workers, his administration would continue to cater to workers.

“This year’s theme, ‘People First,’ resonates deeply with our administration’s philosophy, which is underpinned by our firm belief in prioritising the welfare of our people. Through, various measures, policies, and initiatives, we have demonstrated that the interest and welfare of the people come first and remain the ultimate goal of all our actions. Our response actions are geared towards mitigating the impact of these trying times and offering support to both our workers and citizens alike.”

The governor, therefore, charged the workers to not relent in their good works and commitment towards a better Lagos and Nigeria.
