The family of late Nollywood actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has set up a Central Planning Committee (CPC) for his burial.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Junior Pope’s elder brother, Ivor Odonwodo, charged the general public to rely only on the committee for information about his burial.
This was contained in a statement Ivor released today (Wednesday) in Enugu State.
The statement partly reads, “We enjoin the public to rely solely on information put out by the committee on the funeral rites. For further enquiries on the passage rites or any other matter connected thereto, should reach out to any of the undersigned: Mr. Chijioke Ngwu, Chairman CPC, and Mr. Aka Eze Aka, Enugu Commissioner for Information and Communication. Others are Mr. Ivor Odonwodo, Elder Brother, and Dr. Amuche Nnabueze, Chairperson, Media and Publicity Subcommittee.”
The brother of the deceased actor also mourned him, noting that the family was heartbroken by his death but was being consoled by the impact he made while he was alive.
Speaking on the life and times of Pope, his brother noted that his life was characterised by love for God, his family, and his community, adding that he was a beacon of positive energy to all who had come across him.
Ivor further stated that what they owe Junior Pope at this time is a befitting farewell, which is why they set up the burial committee.
He also stated that “the tentative date of burial for our fallen hero is May 17, while the programme of events around his farewell is being finalised with the family.
The funeral poster encapsulating these events will be shared by the CPC with the general public shortly.”
News About Nigeria reported that Junior Pope met with his untimely death alongside four others when their boat capsized in April at the Anam River in Anambra State on their way back from Adanma Luke’s ‘Another Side of Life’ movie shoot.
