The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has provided clarity on how candidates can access their 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, stating that the process differs from previous years.
In a statement released by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB disclosed that the 2024 UTME results are not currently available on its website.
Instead, candidates are instructed to check their results by sending UTMERESULT to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration for the UTME.
The announcement comes after JAMB confirmed the release of the examination results conducted between Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 29.
News About Nigeria reported that over 1.9 million candidates participated in the computer-based examination, which serves as the basis for ranking candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Speaking on the process for checking this year’s UTME results, the statement said that candidates should refrain from visiting cybercafés or third-party entities for result verification.
Furthermore, JAMB clarified that the results cannot be printed on paper at this time, cautioning against the circulation of printed result slips on social media platforms.
JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, revealed that more than 70 percent of candidates scored below 200 out of the obtainable 400 marks.
Only 0.5 percent of candidates achieved scores above 300.
While acknowledging that a considerable number of candidates have successfully checked their results, JAMB urged those facing difficulties to follow the prescribed channel for result verification.
“A reasonable number of candidates have checked their results as seen on our monitoring dashboard, but for the few still struggling, please follow the right channel,” the statement said.
