The Nigerian music industry witnessed another round of drama as Wizkid and Davido engaged in a heated exchange on Twitter, throwing shade at each other and reigniting long-standing rumours of rivalry between the two superstars, News About Nigeria reports.
The feud started when Wizkid went on a shading spree on Monday, targeting several music heavyweights, including Don Jazzy and Davido.
In response to a tweet from a fan, Wizkid shared a video allegedly showing Davido on his knees, purportedly begging an American side chick.
Not letting the shade slide, Davido hit back with a cryptic tweet, urging Wizkid to focus on releasing new music instead of seeking attention through provocations.
In a subsequent tweet, Davido questioned Wizkid’s career trajectory, suggesting that his success was short-lived and insinuating that he had surpassed Wizkid in terms of achievements and endorsements.
He tweeted, “That’s what I thought. Nothing to say! Exactly why I stopped wasting my clout and jeopardizing my millions of usd of endorsements on someone whose career was resurrected a few years ago just to die again. NEXT!”
Wizkid fired back, dismissing Davido’s claims and asserting his superiority in the music industry.
He labelled Davido as merely an “influencer with a songwriter”.
“I got nun to say to u my boy! I can retire today and you still not on my level. You be influencer with a song writer . Wish u well”
For many years, both singers had been dogged by claims that they were not on good terms even though that was not officially confirmed.
However, in January of 2022, both singers got fans and music lovers excited as the duo were pictured and videoed sharing a warm hug in a Lagos nightclub. In the video that went viral online, Davido and Wizkid could be seen hugging each other passionately and exchanging pleasantries at the club, as fun lovers in attendance squealed in excitement.
