The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has appointed a new Chief of Staff and Zonal Directors for the 14 zonal commands.

Michael Nzekwe, a seasoned investigator and lawyer, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff.
Nzekwe, a former commander of the Ilorin Zonal Command, has served in various departments, including legal and prosecution, operations, and asset forfeiture.
As part of the restructuring, all zonal commands have been upgraded to departmental status, with 14 new directors appointed to head each zone.
The Security Unit has also been elevated to a department, with a seasoned officer appointed as Director, Security, and Chief Security Officer.
A new department has been created in the Executive Chairman’s office, headed by former Makurdi Zonal Commander, Friday Ebelo, who also serves as Director and Coordinator, Special Duties.
The Department of Internal Affairs has been renamed the Department of Ethics and Integrity, with minor reshuffling in some headquarters departments.
According to Olukoyede, the restructuring aims to reposition and strengthen the EFCC for optimal performance.
The appointments and changes were announced by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Saturday.
Olukoyede, had on Tuesday vowed to ensure the prosecution of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, reaches its conclusion.
The EFCC is pursuing 19 charges against Bello, including money laundering and misappropriation of funds totaling N80.2 billion. Olukoyede said the agency is committed to combating corruption, stating that its success is vital for Nigeria’s well-being and economic stability.
