NELFund Warns Against Fake Sites

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has warned students to avoid falling victims of fake sites parading themselves as the official website of the Federal Government’s Students Loan, News About Nigeria reports.

This was contained in a disclaimer signed by the Media and Public Relations Lead, Nasir Ayitogo, on Friday.

Recall that recently, the website, www.fedstudyloan-gov.ng, is being displayed on some sites as the application portal for the highly anticipated student loan scheme of the Federal Government.

Reacting to this, NELFund stated that it is a fraudulent advertisement and should be disregarded by students to avoid being scammed.

It dissociated itself from the website, and condemned the act of deceit by those behind it, adding that it is committed to providing accurate information and resources for financing  education.

“NELFUND wishes to clarify that it has no association with this website and strongly condemns any attempt to deceive students seeking financial aid.

“NELFUND takes the security and well-being of our students very seriously and is committed to providing accurate information and resources for financing their education,” the statement reads in part.

Ayitogo further urged all students to exercise caution and ensure they verify the legitimacy of any website or service claiming to represent the organisation.

He added that anyone who was already a victim or have been affected by the scam should report it immediately to the relevant authorities.

He maintained that the fund’s official channel for student loan applications, which will be open to the public in due course, is www.nelf.gov.ng.
