'It's Illegitimate' – Benue APC Rejects Dissolution Of State Working Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday approved the United States 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, which said that the outcome of the last general election in Nigeria was the will of the people, News About Nigeria reports.

In the report, the US noted that despite the different irregularities encountered during the election, the outcome reflected the will of the people.

Reacting to the report, the APC stated that, though it agrees with the US, it does not need any external validation of its victory in the 2023 poll.

This, according, to the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the party, Nze Chidi Duru, who spoke for the party is because, as a nation, Nigeria has moved on from the outcome of the last election and the current administration is working tirelessly towards achieving their promises to the people.

He further noted that, together with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the current administration will ensure that democracy continues to thrive in the country by conducting better elections in the future.

Duru said, “It (report) is a welcome development but I want to restate that we do not need any external validation on the outcome of the 2023 general election. That election, as far as the party is concerned and as far as the people of Nigeria are concerned, is now behind us and we are looking forward to the 2027 general election.

“We also believe improvement, development and change are constant things and then as a government, we will continue to encourage and fund INEC in a way that empowers them to be able to further improve the electoral process in Nigeria.”
