State Police: FG To Address Security Issues

The Federal Government has vowed to continue to address security issues plaguing the country, News About Nigeria reports.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, said this while speaking at the one-day national dialogue on state policing in Abuja on Monday.

While representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima noted that the presidency is aware of the security challenges being faced by Nigerians daily, and assured the people that the Tinubu-led administration will leave no stone unturned in addressing those challenges.

He also stated that the President is committed to reforming the police force and enhancing security to achieve a safer and more secure Nigeria for the well-being of citizens.

Speaking further, Shettima maintained that various options will be carefully reviewed in the Nigerian context, which, according to him, will guide the country to have a policing system that is most effective and respectful.

“This government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is actively aware of the complex security issues that abound in places.

“As such, we are continually developing and reminding ourselves of methods to address these challenges effectively. Today’s dialogue is critical to these efforts to provide a platform for robust discussion and innovative thinking regarding the reform of our policing structure. He deserves commendation for his openness and proactive stance towards the idea of reforming and decentralising the police force,” he stated.

He added that the president will ensure effective security by adapting reforms that cater to Nigeria’s diverse circumstances.

He also reiterated the president’s readiness to support and implement meaningful resolutions that would emerge from the dialogue.
