The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has been suspended by a new ward executive committee in Ganduje ward, Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State.
The new ward exco, led by Secretary Jaafar Adamu, claims to be the authentic members of Ganduje ward, legally elected on July 31, 2021, News About Nigeria reports.
“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed new suspension on Dr Umar Ganduje,” they said.
The individuals passed a vote of no confidence and imposed a fresh suspension on Abdullahi Ganduje, citing reasons such as non-payment of statutory party dues, creating internal conflict, and anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.
“We have suspended Dr Ganduje membership for creating internal conflict among party members at ward level, anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections,” the executives said.
This development comes after two other factions emerged, one suspending Ganduje and another declaring support for him.
Jaafar Adamu, also a nephew to the former governor of Kano State, dismissed the two factions as imposters orchestrated by Ganduje and other party elements.
Recall that the Dawkin Tofa Local Government chapter of the APC had on Monday suspended ward party leaders who earlier suspended Ganduje. The State Working Committee adopted the suspension of the ward leaders who initiated the move against Ganduje.
According to Chairman Inusa Dawanau, those behind Ganduje’s suspension were caught engaging in anti-party activities and their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.
He said, “They have sanctioned them for six months, and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.”
