Eight people have been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Police Command for attempting to disrupt the inauguration of newly appointed commissioners at the Kano Government House, News About Nigeria reports.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usaini Gumel, made this known to newsmen on Friday.

He noted that the suspects had posed security threats at the venue of the inauguration, which led to their arrest by the police.

Recounting the incident, he stated that the leader of eight thugs, who remained unrepentant and without remorse, had led his team to the venue where they met their waterloo as they were apprehended by the crime prevention patrol team after sustained vigilance.

He explained that the suspected thugs had constituted themselves as pressure groups and supporters of one of the politicians and attempted to disrupt the event.

“The leader of eight thugs, being unrepentant and without remorse, led his team to the venue again until he and the members met their waterloo and were apprehended by the crime prevention patrol team after sustained vigilance.

“The suspected thugs constituted themselves as pressure groups and supporters of one of the infamous politicians and attempted to cause the breakdown of law and order.” He stated.

He further warned thugs and their sponsors to stay clear, adding that whoever was caught trying to cause a security breach or disrupt the peace where critical government activities and functions were being conducted would be arrested and made to face the consequences of his action.

“Enough of clusters of ‘Yan Jagaliya’ loitering around Government House, Audu Bako Secretariat, and similar offices trying to disrupt governance,” he added.

Gumel, however, noted that the suspects were currently at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department’s CID, where thorough investigations were ongoing, to bring them to justice as provided by the law.
