The Federal Government has announced that it will employ strategic frameworks to combat insecurity in the country, News About Nigeria reports.
The National Security Adviser to the President, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, disclosed this while delivering a paper titled “Navigating the Maze: Addressing Multi-Dimensional Insecurity Challenges in Northern Nigeria” at the combined convocation lecture of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto on Thursday.
He noted that the Tinubu-led administration is committed to bringing an end to poverty and insecurity in the country.
According to him, the President will make provisions for bolstering security initiatives, promoting socio-economic development, and fostering inter-communal dialogue, which he maintained will go a long way in addressing grievances and fostering reconciliation.
He also revealed that the federal government would tackle the underlying causes of insecurity by addressing issues such as poverty, unemployment, social marginalisation, and ethnic tensions.
He said that by putting all these in place, President Bola Tinubu will create an environment conducive to peace and stability in Northern Nigeria.
Ribadu maintained that since the coming of this administration, the country has not had any organised terrorist attacks, adding that most of the roads that were previously unsafe for commuters are now secure for travellers at any time of the day.
“Through the Renewed Hope Agenda, the government aims to tackle the underlying causes of insecurity by addressing issues such as poverty, unemployment, social marginalisation, and ethnic tensions,” he stated.
He added that since assuming office, the Tinubu-led administration has successfully freed over a thousand individuals, many of whom were villagers held captive for as long as two to three years, and successfully secured the release of abducted students from the Federal University of Gusau and schoolchildren in Kuriga, among others.
He claimed the administration achieved all these without paying any ransom.
