NANS Disassociates From Planned Fuel Price Protest, Calls For Investigation

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the removal of office holders who have proved to be incompetent in the discharge of their duties, News About Nigeria reports.

The President of the Association, Comrade Pedro Obi, made this call while speaking to newsmen in Abuja, appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to treat incompetence lightly in his administration.

Obi, who staged a peaceful protest at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), reiterated that the Students Association will not be intimidated and will continue to fight for the interests of Nigerian students.

“The message is very simple. We have incompetent people who have been appointed to offices. It’s unfortunate and it’s not the President’s fault, of course he believes in Nigerian youths and has also given us the opportunity to showcase our capacity in various roles that he has given us,” he stated.

He pointed out that the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the President on Student Engagement, has shown a considerable level of incompetence, and asked that he be sacked with immediate effect.

He also called for the termination of the appointment of the Minister of State for Youth Development, stating that the minister has abandoned his assigned duties and have dabbled into the affairs of the association.

The Permanent Secretary, General Services Office in the OSGF, Dr. Maurice Nnamdi Mbaeri, who received NANS on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Senator George Akume, assured the Association of relaying back their complaints to the SGF which he said will land on the listening ears of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He urged them to continue to maintain peace and tranquillity, tasking them not to do anything that will make President Bola Tinubu feel bad about them.
