The body of one of the people who fell into Lagos Lagoon on Wednesday has been recovered by marine police.
According to reports, the marine police recovered the body of the male passenger who drowned in the ill-fated bus that crashed on the Third Mainland bridge two days ago.
His recovery was revealed by the South West Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye.
According to Farinloye, the body was recovered within the vicinity of the incident scene.
News About Nigeria reported that two passengers, an adult male and a female, were flung into the lagoon when a Danfo (commercial bus) crashed while travelling at high speed.
The bus hit the Third Mainland Bridge rails last Wednesday, causing the two passengers to fall into the lagoon.
The tragic accident occurred by Adeniyi Adele’s axis inward of Lagos Island.
Confirming the tragic incident, an X user, @aprokonurse_, who was one of the bus’ passengers, blamed the accident on the front tyre of the bus, adding that the danfo buses are no longer fit to ply Lagos roads.
While thanking God for sparing his life and that of others who survived the accident with minor injuries, @aprokonurse_ prayed that the people who fell into the lagoon be found alive.
Following the crash, emergency responders have been on a search for the bodies of the two passengers, a male and a female, who were thrown into the lagoon as a result of the impact.
They have now recovered the body of the male passenger, while the female victim is yet to be recovered.
