Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has warned those disrespecting him, particularly council chairmen and political appointees loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike, that they are harming their political futures.
News About Nigeria reports that the governor has promised to keep making Rivers people proud despite facing opposition from some political rivals.
He insists that he and his team won’t be scared off but will stay focused on providing good services for the people.
Fubara made these remarks on Thursday in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni while opening a new healthcare centre in Ndoni donated by the PAMO Educational Foundation, owned by former governor Peter Odili.
He said, “Let me say it here: any of you who think you are disrespecting me, you have already dug your pit, and you will fall inside it. Our minds are open and we do not wish anybody bad but we expect you to do what is right.
“For those of you that have decided to take that part you think leads to your destination, safe journey. Siminalayi Fubara and his team will continue to take that course that God has given us, we’ll flow in a direction that your resistance won’t matter to us. We will flow in a direction that will lead to our destination and we’ll make our people proud.
“They said we are clueless; if providing quality education, healthcare, and targeting critical projects is being clueless, we agree with them, but we’ll not do roads to please somebody. We’ll do those things that everyone would benefit from. We’ll ensure that those critical issues that will fit our people in this critical time, we’ll do them.”
He thanked Dr. Peter Odili for the project and urged the community to take care of it. He stressed that serving the community with impactful projects is essential.
Recall that this publication earlier reported that Odili at the event declared his support for Fubara, describing him as the state’s new political leader for championing the people’s interests.
According to Odili, Rivers State plays a vital role in the country, cautioning that any trouble in the state would ripple across the nation.
He urged Governor Fubara to govern with this consciousness, applauding his strides in various sectors within his first year, notably in public health.
