Panic As Bandits Storm Zamfara Palace In Fresh Attack

The abductors of Francisca Chioma, a student of the Department of Science Education at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), have given today (Tuesday) as the deadline for the payment of the sum of N2 million in ransom.

News About Nigeria had reported that Chioma was abducted on Friday on her way to attend a burial in a village outside Awka, Anambra State.

According to the Chief Security Officer of the institution, Ken Chukwurah, who confirmed Chioma’s abduction, the DSS is fully aware of the case and a top-tier investigation is ongoing to ascertain her whereabouts.

He further stated that Chioma’s abductors have contacted her family, though he has no idea whether they are demanding ransom or not.

Also confirming her abduction and the demand for ransom in a post shared last night, a Facebook influencer, Emeka Nobis, revealed that her abductors initially demanded N10 million for her release but after her family and friends solicited it, they pegged it at N2 million.

According to Nobis, who solicited funds for the payment of the ransom for Chioma’s release, her abductors gave today (Tuesday) as the deadline for the payment of the ransom to secure her release or they would take her life.

He further revealed that Chioma’s dad was able to raise N200,000 while her friends and schoolmates have gotten the sum of N350,000.

His post on Facebook reads, “I woke to the devastating news about Francisca Chioma, a beautiful young girl doing amazing for herself, who got kidnapped last Friday on her way to a village in Anambra State for a friend’s dad’s funeral. The news was broken to me by Ubani Favour who I trust absolutely. The kidnappers demanded N10M but Favour and her friends were able to beat it down to N2M. All their friends haven’t raised that.

“The kidnappers have given till tomorrow as deadline, else they’ll take her life. Her dad has N200,000. Her friends have rallied N350,000. I lack words to describe the pain in my heart, but this is a rallying call to all of us here to aid the release of the lady. The connection between her and the kidnappers has been through her friend in whose account monies are being donated. Any token can go a long way.”
