NSCDC Foils Attack On FG’s Silo In Katsina

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agro Rangers, have announced that they foiled an attack on the Federal Government’s grain silo in the Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, News About Nigeria reports.

The spokesman for the NSCDC, Mr. Buhari Hamisu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He noted that the attack was attempted by bandits at about 1 am on April 6, adding that the bandits had plans to destroy the silo and abduct its manager, Mr. Lawal Shitu-Yar’adua.

He, however, stated that the Agro Rangers had responded swiftly, engaging the bandits in a fierce gun duel for over two hours, thereby thwarting the planned attack.

“The valiant operatives overpowered the criminals, who scaled the rear fence of the reserve and escaped with serious injuries.

“The silo was not damaged, nor did the criminals succeed in their nefarious act,” he stated.

Hamisu further stated that the NSCDC has employed more personnel at the location and also increased the firepower of the operatives to prevent a recurrence of such an attack.

He maintained that the command is committed to promoting safety and security for the good people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“The command remains dedicated to promoting safety and security for the good people of the state and Nigeria as a whole, as well as providing adequate protection of critical national assets and infrastructure,” he added.

The silo is used to store grains being distributed to the people of Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.
