The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cautioned youths against involving in any kind of crime, including financial crimes, News About Nigeria reports.
The Chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede, gave this warning while speaking at an Anti-Corruption Concert organised to create awareness and public involvement in the fight against internet crimes, in Abuja on Sunday, noting that no form of crime will be tolerated.
He noted that the anti-graft agency under his leadership will continue to be broad-based, holistic and unsparing of anyone linked with any form of economic and financial crimes.
He further stated that no one will be spared in the fight against corruption, including mega thieves, noting that in the last two months, two former governors have been arraigned by the agency for corruption allegations.
“We will not spare anyone. We will not spare the mega thieves. As we are doing the mega, we will also do those at the lower end. In the last two months, we have arraigned two .
“So, it is not true that we are only focused on internet fraudsters. Of course, internet fraud is bad enough, but our focus is on every form of economic and financial crimes,” he said.
While advising youths to stay clear from indulging in internet-related offences, Olukoyede maintained that being ex-convicts has career limitations as they cannot run for public offices.
He added that it also comes with a terrible stigma.
He, therefore, urged youths to embrace hard work and diligence, stating that the path of success is the path of hard work and dignity.
“There is dignity in labour. Let’s come together. All of us must come together and agree that corruption is evil. Don’t leave the fight to EFCC alone,” he said.
