President Bola Tinubu will be attending the burial ceremony of the 17 soldiers who were killed at Okuama community in Delta State.

The President is scheduled to be the Special Guest of Honour at the burial ceremony.

The burial of the slain soldiers will be held by 3 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the National Cemetery, Abuja.

The Nigerian Army announced the burial ceremony of the fallen heroes on Tuesday in a post shared on its official X account.

In the statement, the Army mourned the soldiers, praying that their souls would rest in peace.

They also charged Nigerians to always appreciate and thank the soldiers around them because they risk their lives while securing those of others and the nation.

News About Nigeria recalls that the soldiers were killed by suspected residents of the Okuama Community on March 14, 2024.

According to reports, they were ambushed and murdered while responding to a distress call during a clash between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in the South-southern state.

Among the deceased are the Commanding Officer of the 181 Army Amphibious Battalion, two majors, one captain, and 13 soldiers.

Reacting to their tragic demise, the President mourned the slain soldiers, adding that a proper investigation be done and their killers be arrested.

He had also tasked security agencies to swing into action adding that, the soldiers deserve justice because they served the nation till death.

Also, following their deaths, the Army vowed to comb every nook and cranny until the perpetrators of the heinous act were brought to justice.
