The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof. Edward Olanipekun, has disclosed that Pastor E.A. Adeboye and three others will be awarded honorary doctorate degrees at her 28th convocation ceremony, News About Nigeria reports.
He disclosed this while speaking at a press conference held at the New Senate Chamber of the university on Monday to commence the convocation activities.
Other awardees are His Excellency, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Prince Julius Adeluyi, and Princess Folorunso Alakija, who will all be awarded Honoris Causa.
He further noted that the university will be convoking a total of 91 first-class graduates and several other second-class graduates, adding that the university is known for its academic excellence as five of its law graduates bagged first-class at the 2024 call to bar.
“Credit must be given to these good ambassadors of ours and their teachers for doing the university proud.
“It is important to note that our university, in its 42 years of existence, has been producing an array of human resources for local and international markets. Many staff and alumni of the university are currently serving society in various positions across the country,” he stated.
Prof. Olanipekun also stated that the university, under his leadership, has increased the quality of its programmes through teaching, learning, and research.
According to him, aside from the Nigerian University Commission’s (NUC) accreditation, programmes such as MBBS, Nursing Science, Engineering, and Law are accredited by their relevant professional bodies.
The Convocation ceremony is slated to be held on the 3rd and 4th of April 2024.
