The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has signed two Executive Orders banning the use of tinted glasses, the sale of unlabeled bread, and the sale of over 50 litres of petrol across the state in a bid to address security concerns.
News About Nigeria reports that the announcement was made by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, in a statement released on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the Executive Orders, numbered No. 02 and No. 04 of 2024, were enacted following recent attacks in various communities, including Zurmi, Shinkafi, Kaura Namoda, and Talata Mafara, as well as the resurgence of banditry and kidnapping activities in the state.
Executive Order No. 02 imposes a ban on the sale of unlabeled and packaged bread in sacks, mandating all bakery production companies and enterprises to label their bread with the full address and particulars of their production factory.
Furthermore, all petrol filling stations in Zamfara State are now restricted from selling more than 50 litres of petrol to vehicles at a time.
Petroleum product sales at filling stations are also limited to the hours between 6 am and 6 pm.
Additionally, the transportation and sale of bread are restricted within the capital of every local government in the state, with specific limitations in Gusau, the state capital.
Moreover, the governor’s directive prohibits the use of tinted glasses by all vehicle owners in Zamfara State.
Vehicle owners are also barred from covering their licenced number plates while driving and are required to possess their vehicle particulars in compliance with relevant traffic laws.
