South East Development Commission Bill, Important - Ubah

The senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has stated that the South East Development Commission Bill is an important bill for both the region and the country at large, News About Nigeria reports.

He stated this while commending his colleagues for passing the bill, noting that it is a crucial step towards addressing the needs of the Igbo people.

In a statement made available after the bill was passed on Wednesday, Ubah argued that it would go a long way towards addressing the issue of marginalisation in the zone.

He added that the Development Commission Bill will also address the developmental challenges faced by the region of Nigeria.

According to him, the bill will not only put the perceived marginalisation of the South East to an end, but would also, when signed into law, enable the South East zone to benefit directly from federal government intervention programmes that, he stated, are already being enjoyed by other zones.

“On behalf of the South East Senators and Honourable Members, I highlight the importance of the South East Development Commission bill in addressing the developmental challenges faced by the region of Nigeria.

“On the importance of the bill, I reiterate that it would not only put the perceived marginalisation of the South East to an end, but would also, when signed into law, enable the South East zone to benefit directly from federal government intervention programmes that are already being enjoyed by other zones, like the South-South and North East, through the Niger Delta Development Commission and North East Development Commission, respectively.” He stated.
