Following criticisms against the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has charged Nigerians, including opposition parties, to desist from such criticisms that are capable of inciting violence.
According to Matawalle, Nigerians should, as a matter of importance, refrain from making provocative statements about the administration of the President because they usually use unnecessary, destructive words that are capable of causing harm.
News About Nigeria recalls that following the continuous decline of the naira against the dollar, many Nigerians have openly aired their disappointment in the administration of the President.
Also, opposition parties like the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have tasked the President to resign because he is not capable of piloting the affairs of the nation.
In a statement released by the Director of Press, Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike on Friday, Matawalle noted that the criticisms should stop because the President is working tirelessly to tackle the economic hardship.
The statement partly reads, “The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, cautioned Nigerians against using inflammatory comments against the government, saying that such comments are unnecessary. The minister made this call against the backdrop of some unguarded utterances coming from some sections of the populace.
“He said such comments are incisive and destructive and can exacerbate tensions and lead to violence in our beloved nation.”
According to him, President Tinubu has the capacity and political will and he is working round the clock to see that Nigeria is better and a well-secured nation.
Speaking further, the minister stated that, the President has put in place various policies to reshape and modernize the nation’s economy and to also secure the lives and the properties of the people.
He further charged Nigerians and oppositions to instead of unhealthy criticisms support the President for a better country for the good of all.
