Pastor, Others Apprehended For Child-Trafficking In FCT

A pastor, identified as Simon Kado, and two others have been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command for child trafficking, News About Nigeria reports.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, made the development known in a statement on Saturday.

She noted that the pastor, his relative, Jesse Simon-Kado, and their driver, Muhammad Isah, were apprehended on Friday while trafficking 12 underaged children — eight girls and four boys aged between five and 16 years — from Nasarawa State to Ogun State.

She disclosed that the operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad 74 apprehended the suspects on Friday, and upon preliminary investigations, it was discovered that the children were all from Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State.

She, however, noted that the command is in communication with the sister command in Nasarawa on how to reunite the children with their families.

“While the investigation is still ongoing and efforts are underway with Nasarawa State Police Command on how to reunite victims with their respective families, the Commissioner of Police FCT, Benneth Igweh, wishes to reiterate that the safety of residents remains his utmost priority,” the statement reads in part.

Recall that lately, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been experiencing bouts of kidnappings and insecurities.

However, in January 2024, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, neutralised three notorious bandits in a forest within the Bwari area of Abuja, and security agents have continued to fight to bring an end to the kidnappings and killings in the state.
