May Day: PDP Condemns Worsening Living Condition Of Workers

A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos state chapter, Otunba Segun Adewale, has blamed the continued failure of the party in the state on the mismanagement of funds, News About Nigeria reports.

He disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.

According to him, it has become common practice for the leadership of the party in Lagos State to mismanage funds each year, adding that this has prevented them from winning elections in the state.

He noted that the mismanagement of funds became a bit higher during the 2023 general elections, lamenting that out of all the money released to the Lagos PDP to prosecute the 2023 election, less than 50 percent got to the state and to the party foot soldiers.

“It was the one that I brought in to the state to fund election that party’s foot soldiers got, others collected the money and pocketed it.”

“I saw for the first time how few Lagos PDP leaders spent election mobilisation funds in the last 2023 general elections,” he said.

The PDP Chieftain further stated that the party lacked unity among its members and stakeholders in the state, adding that some of the members were involved in anti-party activities during the last election.

According to him, some PDP leaders, including some members of the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, worked for the ruling APC in the last election.

He maintained that for the story of the Peoples Democratic Party’s story to change in Lagos, national leaders should make those entrusted with election funds account for the money.
