The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has commended foreign development partners operating in the country for their continued support in ensuring that Nigerians enjoy an adequate power supply, News About Nigeria reports.

The Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation in a meeting with them on Thursday, stating that their support is not taken for granted.

He assured them that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Power, has a transformation power plan underway to ensure that there is an improvement in power supply across the nooks and crannies of the country.

He stated that upon his assumption of the office of the Minister of Power, he and his team spent the first three months diagnosing and investigating issues that have affected development in the power sector in previous years, why the sector is still at the level it is, and the factors militating against the turnaround that is envisaged in the sector.

He noted that he had gone into consultation with all stakeholders, adding that at the end of the investigation, a full understanding of the situation had been attained.

“We discovered that most of the problems in the sector are not all technical or engineering-related, it actually have to do with liquidity, funding, structural or operational issues which anybody, that has the commitment, could resolve,” he said.

He, however, noted that although the challenges seem minimal, they are multiple, and complicated and permeate all the sectors in the value chain.

He further stated that the team has come up with practical solutions, including viable timing templates, with which those issues can be resolved.

He, therefore, appealed to the partners not to relent in their continued support.
