Nigeria and Angola are said to have entered a strategic partnership that is geared towards better water management and access to constant electricity, News About Nigeria reports.
The partnership that is going to benefit the two countries was said to have been entered when the Angolan Minister of Water and Sanitation, Dr. José Bamoquina, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev.
Speaking during the courtesy visit to his office, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation stated that the partnership is a dream come true for the nation as it would be of great benefit to both Nigeria and Angola.
He further noted that it is essential for the two countries to exchange technical expertise and knowledge in key sectors in order to achieve their common goal of meeting the water and electricity needs of their citizens.
Utsev also added that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is poised with the responsibility of meeting the needs of the people and, as such, is open to more partnerships and collaborations from across the globe.
According to the Angolan Minister during his visit, the partnership would help in strengthening technical exchanges and knowledge between the two countries in key sectors such as access to drinking water and the production of hydraulic energy.
Bamoquina also revealed that Angola has the potential to export electricity to other countries, and they are excited to partner with Nigeria to achieve it.
He also noted that the partnership would help them to efficiently operate six large dams in collaboration with Nigeria’s technical expertise, to provide drinking water and develop irrigated agriculture for the Angolan population.
