The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has denied a report circulating claiming that the state government approved the establishment of an office for the immediate past governor, Yahaya Bello, News About Nigeria reports.

The report circulated on Monday, alleging that Governor Ododo approved the establishment of Bello’s office, to be located within the Government House.

According to the report, this would provide Bello with daily access to state affairs.

Governor Bello handed over the reins of leadership to Governor Ododo on Saturday, following the conclusion of his tenure.

Reacting to the report, Governor Ododo, through his Chief Press Secretary, Oladele John, issued a statement on Tuesday denouncing the information as false and the product of ‘psychotic mischief makers’.

In part, the statement read, “The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to a mischievous report that the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the establishment of the ‘Office of the Immediate Past Governor’ to be domiciled in the Government House.”

Describing the report as fake, Governor Ododo said that it was an attempt by certain individuals to sow confusion, especially considering the achievements of the former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

He urged the public to disregard the misleading information, stating that it was concocted to create disaffection and mislead the public.

Governor Ododo commended the media for exercising restraint and independently verifying the authenticity of the report.

He encouraged the general public to engage in fact-checking before disseminating information to ensure the dissemination of accurate and reliable news.
