On Tuesday, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, revealed that both he and other members of the party have been facing different threats after the 2023 general elections.
According to him, his life has been under various threats following the last election that brought the party to the limelight.
Abure, who said this in a press conference that was held in Abuja, noted that the threats were from dangerous people who don’t want Nigeria to be rescued from its current state.
He further noted that these individuals are the perpetrators of the criminality and degenerated state of the nation.
“We have been faced with many challenges since the end of the 2023 election. They have threatened my life. As a matter of fact, my life has been under threat since the 2023 elections, and that of other members of our party,” he stated.
Abure, however, noted that regardless of the threats to his life and that of other members of the party, they would not relent in their fight to get freedom for the nation.
He further noted that the journey to a better Nigeria is not an easy one, and the party will keep upholding its mandate until Nigeria is liberated.
News About Nigeria reported that, following the defection of the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party, the party has become widely accepted among Nigerians, especially the youths.
With Obi as the flagbearer of the party in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, the party was able to come third in the election and its members also won seats in the House of Representatives.
The Labour Party was also able to produce Governor Alex Otti of Abia State as the only governor who won under its umbrella.
