The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has charged the newly inaugurated appointees to do what is right for the state, News About Nigeria reports.
The governor gave this charge in a statement issued by his media aide, Boniface Onyedi, shortly after swearing in the Chief of Staff, Government House, and five Special Advisers at the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.
He advised them against using their positions to talk down on people, behave unrulily, or antagonise perceived political enemies, stating that their positions are privileges and not rights.
“Don’t use this position to antagonise anybody, even in your localities. I want to speak to you and I will continue to say it, what God cannot do does not exist,” he said.
He further noted that they are in government to render services to the people of the state even in the face of difficulties, adding that their appointment serves as evidence that concrete machinery is being put in place to help solve those problems and take the state to a greater height.
He maintained that the fact that they succeeded in the battle of governance was not by their doing but by the grace of God.
He therefore urged them to regard their positions as a tool that will be used to render service to the people of the state and also rise to the occasion of adding value to governance and demonstrating that they are truly credible men of the state.
Those who were sworn in today include Ehie Edision as Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Darlington Orji, Solomon Eke, Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Deeyah Bariene and Ohia Prince as Special Advisers.
