Aide Loses Job Over Bribery Allegation In Ondo

As the Ondo State gubernatorial election draws closer, more aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared their intentions to run for the office of governor, News About Nigeria reports.

It has been discovered that the APC has merged with more aspirants than any other party in the state.

A source who spoke with newsmen noted that although Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will contest the November 16 gubernatorial election, he will meet formidable opposition in the state, especially among the late governor’s loyalists.

Some of the aspirants are the incumbent Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the former Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa; a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin; the former Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Oladunni Odu (who is the only female among the aspirants); the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof. Francis Faduyile; the former aspirant of the APC, Chief Olusola Oke; and Mr. Gbenga Edema, among others.

The source, however, noted that the former commissioner of finance, Wale Akinterinwa, is the choice of the majority of those who worked with the late governor, Akeredolu.

He maintained that the late governor had anointed him before he died, stating that it was unfortunate that he was not strong enough to make it public before he died.

The source further noted that Akinterinwa is popular in the party across the 18 local government areas of the state, and particularly among those who would be delegates to vote at the primary if an indirect primary system is adopted.
