Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Resolves Debt Dispute, Pays Freelance Writer Owed By Wife

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), the Lagos state presidential candidate under the Labour Party, has stepped in to settle the debt owed by his wife, Ify Aniebo, to a freelance writer, Chika Jones.

News About Nigeria gathered that the sum of £778, which had been owed for services rendered by Jones, has now been paid in full.

The controversy began when Jones took to his social media platform to call out Ify Aniebo over unpaid debts, revealing a timeline of delayed payments and unfulfilled promises dating back to 2019.

The freelance writer detailed his efforts and contributions to projects, including a significant undertaking with Nature journal, for which he claimed to have done 70% of the work.

Following the public call-out, netizens urged Ify Aniebo to settle the debt promptly to avoid potential repercussions on her husband’s political career.

However, Ify released a statement stating that the call-out does not accurately reflect her character and the reputation she has worked hard for over the years.

Chika Jones, in a subsequent update, announced that an unrelated party reached out to him to settle the debt on behalf of Ify.

However, he declined the offer, stating that he wanted to be paid the exact money by the person who owed him.

Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, in response to the situation, facilitated the payment of the owed amount to Chika Jones, effectively resolving the financial dispute.

Hours later, Chika Jones confirmed that he had received the full payment from GRV, expressing appreciation for the resolution.

Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour released a statement acknowledging the episode and expressing gratitude to everyone who supported in de-escalating the situation.

He extended an olive branch to Chika Jones, stating that the matter has been rectified, and the due amount has been paid.

Both parties have expressed a willingness to move forward, putting the issue behind them.
