Controversial social media personality Daniel Regha has recently voiced his disapproval of celebrity blogger Tunde Ednut’s birthday celebration, which saw the controversial figure, Ramon Abass, alias Hushpuppi, marking the occasion from his prison cell in the United States.
Tunde Ednut reportedly shared a video of Hushpuppi celebrating his birthday from behind bars, showcasing a spread of prison food used for the occasion.
The video quickly circulated on social media, with Hushpuppi seen serving rice into different bowls and enjoying pasta and cold drinks as he spoke in the background.
Expressing his discontent on his X page, Daniel Regha strongly condemned the celebration, stating that Hushpuppi is a criminal and should be treated as such.
He criticised Nigerians who view the convicted felon as an icon or a positive role model.
In a tweet, Regha stated, “Hushpuppi is a criminal & should be treated as one since he’s in prison; He often makes headlines but Nigerians need to stop acting like he’s an icon or a good role model. One of the biggest problems we are facing today is yahoo boys, which the likes of Hushpuppi encouraged. Let’s be mindful of what we encourage in the name of cruise.”
Continuing his commentary on the matter, Daniel Regha stated that people like Hushpuppi should not have access to a mobile phone while in prison, emphasising the need for accountability for their crimes.
News About Nigeria reports that Hushpuppi was sentenced in the United States to 11 years for conspiracy to launder money obtained from business email compromise frauds and other scams, including schemes that defrauded a US law firm out of approximately $40 million, illegally transferred $14.7 million from a foreign financial institution, and targeted to steal $124 million from an English Premier League club.
