The management of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has refuted claims that the artiste left behind a will before his untimely death, News About Nigeria reports.
This denial comes in response to statements made by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, who claimed in a recent interview that his son wrote a will.
In a statement posted on Mohbad’s Instagram account on Monday, the singer’s management described the claim as ‘false and misleading’.
They clarified that neither the artiste’s management nor his lawyer has communicated the existence of a will or any thumb-printed document to the family or the public.
The management said that if such a document existed, it would have been duly registered with the Probate Registry.
The statement also provided updates on the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.
It mentioned that the police have conducted an investigation, and autopsy results from samples sent abroad are expected in a couple of months.
Additionally, it stated that all accounts owned and controlled by Mohbad during his lifetime have been on a post-no-debit order since September 12, 2023, and will be handed over to the family upon the resolution of internal disputes.
Mohbad’s father has expressed suspicion regarding the circumstances of his son’s death, raising concerns about the alleged will with thumbprints instead of a signature.
He recounted discovering his son’s body already embalmed locally when he arrived home and said that there was a need for a thorough investigation into the matter.
He added that he was surprised to learn that his 26-year-old son had a will, although he, in his 60s, does not.
Mohbad’s father also stated that instead of his signature, the will had Mohbad’s thumbprints.
