Nabeeha: Outrage As Kidnappers Kill One Of Six Sisters Abducted

Nigerians on social media have expressed outrage as kidnappers kill a lady identified as Nabeeha, one of the six sisters who were abducted from their home in Abuja on January 2, 2024.

News About Nigeria gathered that a fundraising campaign was initially launched to secure the release of Nabeeha and her five sisters when they were abducted.

The abduction was announced on January 3 by a user, Adamu_Asiya_, who identified herself as a cousin to the kidnapped sisters.

Asiya shared the distressing news, revealing that the kidnappers had taken Nabeeha, her sisters, and their father.

Unfortunately, the uncle lost his life during the abduction.

She requested prayers from the public, saying, “Please pray for my sisters and uncle when you see this. Nabeeha, her sisters, and her dad were kidnapped in their house last night. We lost an uncle in the process. Your duas are needed.”

Two days later, she informed the public that the father had been released by the kidnappers after a ransom of N60 million was paid, but the kidnappers still demanded N60 million for the release of Nabeeha and her sisters, setting a deadline.

In response, the hashtag #Najeebaandhersisters was created to raise the N60 million demanded by the kidnappers.

However, tragedy struck on Saturday when Asiya, the cousin of the kidnapped sisters, announced on X that Nabeeha had been killed by the kidnappers for failing to meet the ransom deadline.

The kidnappers subsequently increased the ransom to N100 million.

Asiya posted, “Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun. Please put Nabeeha in your prayers. May Allah grant her Al-Jannatul Firdaus. They killed her…”

Following Nabeeha’s death, social media erupted with outrage, and Netizens demanded swift action from the police and the Nigerian government to ensure the release of the remaining sisters.

Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.), joined the call for urgent intervention, posting on his official X handle, “I join fellow concerned Nigerians in urgently calling on the @PoliceNG through its PPRO @PrinceMoye1 to acknowledge and respond to the unfortunate incident involving the kidnapping of Najeebah and five of her sisters #NabeehaAndHerSisters more than a week ago.”

He expressed concern over the tragic killing of Nabeeha and the increased ransom demand.
