Lagos Police Acknowledges Tiwa Savage’s Petition Against Davido

The Lagos State Police Command has officially acknowledged receiving a petition from Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage detailing allegations of bullying and threats to her life by Grammy-nominated artiste David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, News About Nigeria reports.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the receipt of the petition and announced the commencement of investigations into the matter.

In the petition circulating online, Tiwa Savage accuses Davido of using disrespectful language in response to an Instagram story post that included herself and Sophia Momodu, Davido’s baby mama.

Savage said she was disappointed at Davido’s threats and reminded him of her unwavering support during difficult times, especially when he lost his son, Ifeanyi.

The singer narrated that she received messages from Davido instructing her not to respond to him, alleging that she was taunting him and using derogatory language.

In the complaint, Tiwa Savage said that Davido’s actions amounted to harassment, both online and offline, and posed a direct threat to her rights to life, privacy, and dignity, as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.

She urged the police to hold Davido responsible for any harm that might befall her or her family.

The events leading to the petition unfolded after both Tiwa Savage and Davido unfollowed each other on Instagram on January 6, 2024.

The unfollowing incident raised questions about the nature of their relationship, as the two singers were known to have a cordial rapport over the years.

Before Tiwa Savage’s petition, music executive Tunji Balogun, also known as Teebillz, had publicly criticised Davido for allegedly disrespecting his family and threatening to teach him a lesson.

Tee Billz accused Davido of bullying Tiwa Savage, his ex-wife.
