Lagos Police Acknowledges Tiwa Savage’s Petition Against Davido

Tiwa Savage, the acclaimed Nigerian songstress, has lodged a formal petition with the Lagos commissioner of police, Fayoade Adegoke, accusing fellow musician Davido of threatening her with assault and grievous bodily harm.

In the petition dated January 9 and obtained by News About Nigeria, Tiwa Savage detailed the alleged threats she received from the Grammy-nominated artiste.

The ‘Somebody Son’ crooner claimed that Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, sent messages to her manager, warning her not to say a word to him and accusing her of taunting him.

Tiwa Savage further said that Davido made disrespectful and derogatory remarks about her.

The petition highlighted an incident on December 23 when Tiwa Savage posted on her Instagram Story featuring herself and Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s daughter, Imade.

According to the petition, Davido expressed displeasure over the post, leading to a series of messages and calls.

In the complaint, Tiwa Savage said that Davido’s actions amounted to harassment, both online and offline, and posed a direct threat to her rights to life, privacy, and dignity, as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.

She urged the police to hold Davido responsible for any harm that might befall her or her family.

The petition read in part, “I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter. Please find attached screenshot images of the exchange between myself and MR. DAVID ADELEKE for your perusal.”

As news of the petition spread online, social media platforms witnessed a surge in reactions, with many users expressing concern over Davido’s alleged behaviour and labelling him as a bully.
