Jonathan Criticises Governors For Encouraging Criminals

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that he is not sorry for backing the re-election of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, News About Nigeria reports.

The former president made this known during the Yuletide visit of the governor and a high-powered delegation to his Yenagoa residence in the Bayelsa State capital on Tuesday.

He noted that he has no apologies for giving the governor his full support and that the governor and his team are doing excellently well, especially in the area of peace and stability in the state.

Jonathan maintained that the level of cultism in the state has been reduced to the barest minimum ever since the governor assumed office.

The former president added that it was not so during other tenures, including his short time as governor.

He further disclosed that he had seen that the governor was a man with the vision to reduce insecurity in the state and decided to give him the necessary support he needed to bring those visions to life.

He added that for the state to move forward, the issue of insecurity must be dealt with so that foreign investors can be attracted to the state.

He therefore urged the governor not to relent in the good work he is already doing for the people of Bayelsa State.

Jonathan said that the governor will have to do more to meet the high expectations of the massive support base for his Prosperity Administration, adding that, to whom much was given, much was expected.
