The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has tasked the older generation to wake up to their responsibility of nation-building, as it is important they do that now before it becomes too late, News About Nigeria reports.
The senior pastor made this call while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday.
He noted that failure to sit up by the older generation will make it difficult to lead the younger generation.
Adeyemi urged those who belonged to the elite class, which included those who have been able to walk their way to the top comfortably, those with the highest level in the political class at the National Assembly, the governors, and the state house assembly, among others, to begin to hold discussions on how they can influence governance to become positive.
According to him, it was a matter of urgency and in their interest, as the younger generation is more enlightened and has access to more information.
He added that it was highly unlikely that the younger generation would keep silent and look the other way for long. He maintained that leading the younger generation was going to get rougher because the younger generation would demand accountability and good leadership.
The pastor further lamented that the level of suffering in the country was increasing by leaps and bounds, and there was no time to sit and wait until things became worse and the country ran into crisis before the older generation took steps to salvage the country.
He therefore urged the older generation to get together and ask themselves the hard questions, like where Nigeria is going, what value will get the country there, what system of government, and what structure will take the nation there.
