President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed what his ambition was while he was serving the country as first a former senator and then a governor of Lagos State, News About Nigeria reports.
The President disclosed this in a national New Year message broadcast on Monday.
According to him, his major ambition while running for public offices over the years has been to build a fair and equitable society and close the widening inequality that has existed from time immemorial between the rich and the poor, the privileged and the underprivileged, and between the government and the people.
He noted that he has learned a lot from his time as a Senator of the Federal Republic, a two-time governor, and now the President of the country, adding that his experience has led him to be more empathetic towards the plight of Nigerians.
Tinubu further stated that he was creating an enabling environment that would allow the rich to enjoy their hard-earned wealth and for the talented, diligent citizens to make headway in life.
He assured Nigerians that there will be steady and sustainable development in the country in the new year, adding that his government will prioritise electricity as no sustainable development can be achieved without electricity.
Tinubu further disclosed that during the COP28 summit that was held in Dubai in December 2023, the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, agreed to partner with him in speeding up the delivery of the Siemens Energy power project that will ultimately deliver a reliable supply of electricity to the homes and businesses of Nigerians under the Presidential Power Initiative, which began in 2018.
