Lawmakers Hail Tinubu's Move To Tackle Insecurity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the 2023 general elections to partner with him in making Nigeria a better place for all to live and thrive in, News About Nigeria reports.

The president made this call to the politicians in his New Year message on Monday, stating that the elections are over and it is time for the work of stabilising the country to kick off fully.

Tinubu noted that for the country to enjoy the good benefits that came with the new year, the citizens must be willing to work together both as individuals and collectively as a people, adding that Nigerians must play their part in ensuring that the year 2024 is better than the previous years.

He further stated that the job of building a prosperous nation must not be left to the president, governors, ministers, lawmakers, and government officials alone, maintaining that as members of the household of Nigeria, the destinies of everyone are connected.

The president urged Nigerians not to let the differences in their language, creed, ethnicity, and religious beliefs, work at cross purpose, stating that there is unity in diversity.

Appealing to the candidates of the various opposition parties, Tinubu noted that it was time for all to work together for the sake of the country, urging everyone to work together for the peace, progress and stability of the country as joint heirs to the Nigerian Commonwealth.

“We must let the light each of us carries—men and women, young and old—shine bright and brighter to illuminate our path to a glorious dawn,” he said.
