Abducted Bauchi Children Reunited With Parents

Seven children who were abducted from Bauchi and trafficked in Anambra and Lagos States have been reunited with their parents, News About Nigeria reports.

Kano state governor, Governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, expressing his disappointment and dismay in the development that led to the abduction and trafficking of the children.

He stated that it was a disheartening situation, maintaining that no child should have to go through it as it not only posed a means of trauma for the children but also robbed them of their childhood.

He expressed shock that people will plan and work towards abduction, trafficking, and sale of children, adding that the criminal syndicate from the North will be adequately dealt with.

Governor Sanusi, however, urged his colleague, the Bauchi State Governor, to ensure that the arrested suspects face the full wrath of the law and should be used as an example to others planning to delve into that same thing, and also appealed to him to revisit the case of 11 Kano children reportedly abducted and sold in Anambra a few years ago.

The governor also commended the efforts the Kano State Police Command, under the capable leadership of CP Muhammad Hussain Gumel, put into the case to ensure that the suspects were arrested and the children were rescued.

One of the parents of the rescued children, identified as Malam Saad from Bauchi, expressed his gratitude, stating that he was the happiest person to see his child again, and thanked the Governor and the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, for making it possible.

Sanusi urged parents to remain vigilant and attentive to the well-being of their children as a fundamental responsibility.
