The Labour Party has unveiled its timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming February 3, 2024, bye-elections, following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), News About Nigeria reports.

The National Working Committee of the party cautioned the public against an alleged viral timetable released by expelled members.

The party’s national secretary, Umar Farouk, shared key details in a memo issued in Abuja.

According to the memo, the nomination form fees are set at N3.5 million for the Senate, N2 million for the House of Representatives, and N500,000 for the House of Assembly.

The sale of nomination, expression of interest, and delegate forms is scheduled to run from December 28, 2023, to January 4, 2024.

The deadline for the submission of completed forms is also January 4, 2024.

Primary elections are slated for January 7, 2024. Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) are exempted from payment for the Expression of Interest Forms.

Farouk emphasised that the bye-election forms are available at the National Headquarters in Utako, Abuja.

Aspirants can obtain the forms and gather crucial information related to the elections at the office of the National Organising Secretary.

In a stern warning, the party urged its aspirants to stay focused and disregard misinformation from expelled members, describing them as ‘falling villains’.

The Labour Party emphasised the need for aspirants to concentrate on the forthcoming elections and encouraged expelled members to seek an alternative platform for their political activities.

The move follows the approval of timetables by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the same bye-elections.
