Renowned Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has openly shared the condition under which she would consider taking on a nude role in a film, News About Nigeria reports.
During a recent episode of Pulse’s podcast, ‘Terms and Condition’, the 56-year-old actress said that for her to agree to a nude role, the script must offer justifiable reasons and must steer clear of mere sensationalism or commercial motives.
Ireti Doyle made it clear that she wouldn’t entertain a nude role in a film if it was solely for publicity purposes.
She expressed her commitment to meaningful storytelling and maintained that if nudity is important to the plot, especially in addressing sensitive issues like rape or abuse, she would be open to discussing it with the filmmakers to ensure it is handled with the necessary sensitivity.
“There are characters that I wouldn’t play. And it has nothing to do with love scenes or nudity.
“For instance, if you expect me to go nude in a film, the script would have to justify it. If it was for sheer sensationalism and click baits, absolutely no,” the veteran actress said.
She added, “But if you are telling a story of rape or abuse and there is something required, I’m sure we can work something around where you can achieve the level of realism that is required.”
Ireti Doyle emphasised the importance of professional communication between actors and filmmakers before production commences, ensuring that any objections or concerns are addressed beforehand, not during the filming process.
