Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has reiterated that the Naira Redesign Policy was approved by former President Mohammadu Buhari, News About Nigeria reports.
The former CBN governor, who just regained his freedom from prison through bail, made this known while reacting to the report of the private investigator into the affairs of the CBN, Mr. Jim Obazee, which claimed that there was no presidential approval for the Naira redesign programme.
Recall that Obazee had earlier released a report, asserting that Emefiele and others stole billions and illegally kept Nigeria’s funds in foreign banks.
Emefiele however, debunked this, stating that the presidential approval for the Naira redesign programme was handed to Obazee in front of senior CBN officials and members of the Private Investigator’s team.
He noted that a large chunk of the reports turned in by the private investigator and cited in the various media publications flying around in the country, contained false facts, adding that they were misleading and calculated to dishonour and degrade his person, injure his character and to serve the selfish interest of the private investigator.
He further revealed that he has been advised by his lawyers not to make statements in regards to the matters already in court and waiting for adjudication.
He however stated that he would address other issues that have been factored into publications and were currently going around in the country, maintaining that those issues and facts contained in the publications are barefaced lies told by the investigator to achieve his satanic agenda.
