We Arrested 487 Suspects In Six Months — Ebonyi Police

The Ebonyi State Police Command has revealed that it recorded no fewer than 300 cases and apprehended over 487 suspects from June until now, News About Nigeria reports.

Additionally, the command said that it successfully prosecuted 140 cases, bringing 187 suspects to court during this period.

The state commissioner of police, Augustina Ogbodo, shared these figures during a press conference held in Abakaliki. 

According to Ogbodo, the command achieved 15 convictions, recovered 12 stolen vehicles, and seized 20 assorted firearms within the specified timeframe.

Ogbodo said, “The command has also recovered 350 ammunitions of different calibers and dislodged criminals from numerous hideouts in different parts of the state.”

Expressing gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Ogbodo acknowledged the support that helped their service to the state.

She extended appreciation to sister agencies, noting their collaborative efforts in achieving notable breakthroughs in law enforcement.

Commending the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, and his team for creating an enabling environment, Ogbodo reassured the commitment of the command to maintaining security.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has revealed that over the past ten weeks, the Nigerian Police Force achieved significant milestones in crime reduction nationwide.

News About Nigeria gathered that during a strategic meeting with high-ranking police officials on Monday, he said that a total of 134 kidnapping victims were rescued, 375 suspected kidnappers arrested, and 578 armed robbery suspects apprehended.

He added that the police also made arrests related to rape, murder, cultism, and other criminal offences.

Egbetokun noted that the Force successfully recovered 419 firearms of various types and over 4,000 different calibres of ammunition, adding that breakthroughs were made in investigations, including the resolution of the deadly Otukpo bank robbery, where five robbers were neutralised and four arrested.
