Shettima Empathises With Poor Masses Says Harsh Economic Decision Necessary For Better Nigeria

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has charged the newly constituted committee set up to look into the issues of crude oil theft and the economy to keep the hope of the nation alive and fulfil the promises made to Nigerians, News About Nigeria reports.

The Vice President gave this charge on Thursday when he inaugurated the committee.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima urged members of the council to pay attention to the demands of Nigerians, adding that the members of the council should not look forward to vacations this period as the weight of responsibilities rests on their shoulders and there is so much work to be done.

He noted that according to the belief of President Bola Tinubu, the challenges that were inherited by his administration are surmountable, and has offered visionary leadership and presented a coherent development plan to assist in the country’s pursuit of order, abundance, and stability.

He, therefore, urged members of the council to ensure they translate ideas into actions that will curb the rate of oil theft in the country.

“That’s why we can’t afford to fail, and the new year must be, for us, a timeout to reflect on how we have fared so far and what we must do differently to keep the hope of the nation alive,” he said.

The committee on oil theft is to be headed by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, while the committee on the economy will be headed by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
