President Bola Tinubu has charged the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, to re-present the state’s 2024 budget, which he initially presented to the four-member panel of the state House of Assembly.
Tinubu gave the order after he resolved the crisis that has been ongoing in Rivers State.
It can be recalled that because of the crisis in Rivers State and the move to impeach Governor Fubara, he presented the state’s 2024 Appropriation Bill to the four-member panel of the House of Assembly led by Hon. Edison Ehie who are loyal to him.
Following President Tinubu’s intervention in the rift between the Governor of the state and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Fubara and his cabinet were instructed to withdraw all matters in court regarding the political crisis.
News About Nigeria reports that President Tinubu, together with the former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila and some other stakeholders from Rivers State, met with Fubara and Wike at the Presidential Villa.
It can be recalled that the crisis in the state broke out between Wike and Fubara after the hallowed chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly was set ablaze by suspected political thugs in the state, following a move by the state house to commence an impeachment process on the Leader of the House, Ehie, and the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Also, the state government had because of the crisis in the state demolished the Rivers state House of Assembly building.
