Partnering With Indonesia, Smart Move For Nigeria - NASENI

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Technology (NASENI) has revealed that its recent partnership with Indonesian company PT Saputra Global Harvest is a smart move for Nigeria, noting that it will enhance innovation and industrialization in the country, News About Nigeria reports.

The executive vice chairman (EVC) of NASENI, Khalil Halilu, made this known while speaking at the ceremony of the collaboration between the two countries, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to establish a coal-based fertiliser plant in Nigeria to support agriculture production and boost food security.

He noted that food security is one of the priority areas on the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the President is determined to build a Nigeria that is not only able to feed itself affordably but also one that can produce surplus food for export.

Halilu further stated that the MoU was part of steps to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries, while also supporting the development of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

According to him, the deal would guarantee the supply of machinery and equipment that will enable Nigeria to produce coal-based fertiliser for use in the country.

Halilu also stated that it would ensure the capacity development component, which is the training of Nigerian personnel on the use and maintenance of this equipment.

Speaking also, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria, Dr. H. Usra Hendra Harahap, noted that the efforts of both countries to come together and partner for a great cause were a testament to the expertise, innovation, and shared vision of both countries for sustainable agriculture development.
