The National Assembly has revealed that it plans to pass the 2024 budget of N27.5 trillion next Saturday and resume plenary on Wednesday, News About Nigeria reports.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Adeola Solomon, made this known in an interview with Punch on Monday, adding that the secretariat of the committee was open for all sub-committees to tender in their reports.
It was gathered that the various committees have started submitting their reports.
The submission of reports is coming after about 541 ministries, departments, and agencies complete their budget defence.
The various MDAs that defended their budgets before the National Assembly include the Ministry of Power, and Education, among others.
Adeola also expressed his confidence that the committee on appropriation will submit its report on Thursday, adding that the budget will unfailingly be passed on Saturday.
He, however, urged all chairmen of the committee to be up and doing, reiterating that they are working with a deadline and therefore everyone must work hard to ensure that the deadline is met.
He also charged them to make themselves available to receive the reports of the various MDAs when they are submitted, adding that it would not be wise to act on any ministry or agency of the government without having the input of their respective committees from the chairmen of the various committees.
He added that if the various MDAs fail to comply with the directives, the implication is that the Appropriation Committee will allocate funds to the agencies based on its discretion.
