Culprits In Kaduna Bombing Incident Will Be Held Accountable — Defence Chief

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has pledged that anyone found responsible for the tragic Kaduna bombing incident will face appropriate consequences, News About Nigeria reports.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, General Musa said that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is committed to defending democracy and assured that a thorough investigation is underway.

The accidental air strike occurred in the Igabi council area of Kaduna, resulting in the deaths of eighty-five people and numerous injuries.

In response to the incident, President Bola Tinubu initiated a probe, and the CDS reiterated the military’s dedication to cooperating with the investigation committee.

General Musa stated, “We would make amends after the committee [to probe the matter] has come up [with its report]. Anybody who is found culpable will face the music.”

He said that the Armed Forces’ has unwavering support for the government and the nation, assuring citizens that accountability would be upheld.

The Defence Chief said that there is sincerity, fairness, and impartiality in the ongoing investigation, promising transparency in sharing the findings with the public once concluded.

He apologised for the accidental airstrike, expressing deep regret over the incident and assuring Nigerians that it was not deliberate.

General Christopher Musa conveyed the military’s commitment to protecting innocent Nigerians, urging continued support for the troops engaged in combating banditry and other crimes.

He acknowledged the sacrifices of the armed forces and cautioned against actions or statements that could demoralise the troops.

According to him, they play a crucial role in preserving the country’s security.
